Fun Fact

I am the daughter, granddaughter and great-niece in a well-known Jazz Family; Von Freeman (Grandfather-deceased), Chico Freeman (Father), George Freeman (Great-Uncle).

Design Approach

My design approach includes Backwards Design and a Student-Centered approach. Backwards Design allows the designer(s) to plan based on what students are expected to know and be able to do by the end of any course. This approach ensures that the focus is on developing the knowledge, skills, and dispositions of the learner. With that, keeping students at the center of the design speaks to the Student-Centered approach. There is much to be said about an online course that keeps the student experience at the forefront of the design as well as engages students from the beginning of the course to the end!

Design Approach

When designing courses, the most important aspect for me is ensuring that students will walk away from the class with the skills and knowledge to help them reach their goals. Through collaboration, we will work together to provide students with an eLearning experience in which they will solve real-world problems, build connections with their peers, and interact with diverse perspectives.

Implementing Bloom’s Taxonomy, scaffolding, and instructional design models to the courses we create will ensure that we engage and motivate students to find success within the course. While success looks different to each person, our courses will ensure that students have the access and ability to find that success.
