How-To

Quizzes are often used as pre-tests, quick checks for understanding, surveys and exams. Canvas quizzes offer multiple choice, sequencing, true/false or matching questions, just to name a few.

To Add a Quiz

  1. navigate to the appropriate module on your home page
  2. click the plus icon on the right side of the module title bar
  3. select Quiz from the drop-down menu at the top of the window that pops up
  4. choose [New Quiz] from the top of the list
  5. Give your quiz a title
  6. Assign the quiz to the appropriate grading category
  7. choose whether or how far you’d like this assignment to be indented from the left side within the module on the home page. It’s standard to indent a page’s title one level so that it’s slightly further in from the title of the module.
  8. click Add Item

To add a multiple choice question to the Quiz

  1. click on the Questions tab of the quiz you would like to populate
  2. click plus New Question below the tab
  3. enter a title for your question or keep the default “Question”
  4. add the question’s prompt or text in the Question box
  5. the correct answer will default to the first answer box
  6. enter the correct answer
  7. Populate subsequent answer boxes with incorrect answers
  8. Click Update Question
  9. Save or Save and Publish your quiz
